THE LIFE EXPERIENCE IN TANZANIA
In January 2012, sisters Daisy and Aimee Macedo had an amazing opportunity to travel to a small town, Arusha, in Tanzania. The sisters volunteered their time as English Teachers at an orphanage school called NELITO. Aimee taught the children between the ages 4-5, and Daisy taught the older students. Although there was an obvious language barrier, there was an instant connection between the sisters and the children. The students were affectionate, loving, optimistic and just regular kids oblivious to their living conditions. This experience marked their life commitment in making a difference in these children’s lives and their future generations.
After that life changing experience, in July of 2013, Daisy and Aimee hosted their first Annual Charity Event at their Family Winery (Evolution Wines by Macedo Winery) and remarkably raised $10,000 donated by friends, family and their community. In February 2014, with the help of Father Prosper and the Arch Diocese of Arusha, they traveled back to Arusha to revisit Nelito and organized the funds that were donated to the school.
They also had another unique opportunity to visit several other orphanages, schools, dispensaries and hospitals in the area that are in immense need of assistance. Now, Daisy and Aimee’s mission and vision of Hakuna Matata Foundation has grown larger. They are continuously spreading the in their community, and have used their family business as a drop off location for donations that will be shipped directly to Arusha.

NELITO (New Life Together) is an orphan care-centre school in Arusha, Tanzania. Since 2006 NELITO has been caring and teaching children from ages three to twelve. The founders have established a classroom for the children and a canteen to raise money for expenses.
