Abrigo Centre: GIVING TUESDAY

Por Leila Monteiro Lins | November 29, 2022

Giving Tuesday is here and Abrigo is excited to see if it can raise $5,000 to support the needs of its clients who rely on the agency more than ever.

Did you know that Abrigo’s Intake Counsellors get 30 to 40 new phone calls each day from individuals looking for assistance?

Requests for core services like violence against women counselling continues to rise. Whether it’s a job loss or the rising inflation we all feel, many more people are calling today looking for financial assistance simply to provide life’s basic needs like food to their family.

No matter the challenge, Abrigo’s trauma-informed counsellors work with each client to identify and get them the services they need. Whether it is finding a survivor of abuse a safe place to stay or looking for warm clothes for a newcomer’s child, the agency provides everything from the essential to the practical to its clients. It’s easy to underestimate the dramatic need in our community for groceries, clothes, toiletries and other items we take for granted.

How can you help

Your donation of $50 on Giving Tuesday will provide a much-needed grocery gift card for a family in need this holiday season.
