MY BATTLE WITH BREAST CANCER
“My name is Beatriz and I am currently battling breast cancer. I was 28 years old when I was diagnosed with stage III breast cancer. I never thought I would be at risk as I was young, active and with no family history. I was in Brazil, when I noticed a small lump in my left breast and mentioned it to my husband. I did a biopsy and unfortunately the result was positive. We received the diagnosis one week before our departure to start a new life in Canada.
In December 2014, I received the news that the cancer had spread to a lymph node on my neck which had to be removed. I went through another surgery in January 2015. Two weeks later, another three spots were found and removed. Right now, there are a couple of more spots on my skin that are unfortunately suspicious for cancer.
After some research I decided to try oral chemotherapy (fewer side effects) associated with hyperthermia and vitamin C high dosage. Due to our low income, unfortunately we are not able to pay for the full treatment and the lesions are growing each day. Another treatment option is located in Tijuana, Mexico at the “Oasis of Hope Clinic” which costs between US$18,000 to US$35,000 for a 3 week treatment”.
