Vocalist Fernanda Cunha comes to Canada

Brazilian singer Fernanda Cunha features contemporary and traditional compositions that have won them fans on three continents.

Fernanda rose out of the rich Brazilian jazz scene to become a rising luminary in international jazz.

She began her career in 1997 and has since toured Brazil, Europe, and North America performing at prestigious international jazz festivals. Regular appearances at jazz festivals in Canada have helped to carve out a whole new fan base for Cunha’s post-bossa groove, and she repayed the compliment with her CD Brasil-Canada released in 2009.

In 2012 she is celebrating 15 years of career, releasing her fifth CD “Coração do Brasil”, acompanied by her fellow musicians: : Cristóvao Bastos(piano), Jorjão Carvalho(eletreic bass), Ze Carlos(guitar), Jurim Moreira (drums) and special guests; Sueli Costa(piano), Camilla Dias(piano), Marcio Hallack(piano) and Tom Szczesniak (acordeon).

Repertory includes songwriters Antonio Carlos Jobim, Haroldo Barbosa, Antonio Adolfo e Nelson Wellington, Ivan Lins & Vitor Martins, Daniel Gonzaga, Sueli Costa & Luiz Sergio Henriques, Marcio Hallack, Noel Rosa and an original composition written by her and Camilla Dias
