Aga Khan Museum

The Aga Khan Museum is a museum of Islamic art, Iranian art and Muslim culture in the North York district of Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The museum is an initiative of the Aga Khan Trust for Culture, an agency of the Aga Khan Development Network.

EXHIBITIONS:

1- Emperors and Jewels Treasures of the Indian Courts from The al-Sabah Collection, Kuwait Treasures of the Indian Courts from the al-Sabah Collection, Kuwait (On until January 27, 2019) 

Discover the deep roots of contemporary fashion’s love affair with men’s jewellery and adornments in this display of exquisitely crafted jewelled artworks from Mughal India. Decorated with gems such as diamonds and carved from semi-precious stone like jade, the objects in this exhibition are drawn from Kuwait’s al-Sabah Collection, one of the foremost collections of Islamic arts in the world.

2- Transforming Traditions – The Arts of 19th-Century Iran  (On until February 10, 2019)

Explore the arts of a society at the crossroads of transformation, caught between the desire to maintain time-honoured local traditions and the need to engage with outside influences and currents of innovation.

3- The Moon – A Voyage Through Time (Opening March 9, 2019)

Journey across space and time in this celebration on the nighty symbol of transformation that fascinates us all – the moon.
